It has an average altitude of 650 metres. This is an area of lush vegetation: Aleppo pine, juniper, holm oak, oak, rosemary, thyme, cotton lavender, strawberry tree and black hawthorn. The animal species specific to this area are: wild boar, hare, rabbit, partridge, quail, wood pigeon, insectivorous birds such as the great tit or the chiffchaff and raptors like kestrels, long-eared owls and short-toed eagles. All of them make La Bardena a very important ecological reserve. This area is also known as “Black Bardena”, due to the blackish color of the pines.
